Datepace Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
Datepace helps you read the momentum in a dating conversation from a screenshot. This page describes exactly what data that requires, and — just as importantly — what it doesn't.
What stays on your device
When you share a screenshot into Datepace, the image itself is read on-device using Apple's Vision framework. The raw image never leaves your phone. Only the text extracted from it is sent anywhere, and only after you've shared the screenshot into the app.
If you're a Datepace Pro subscriber and choose to add a profile photo to a saved match, that photo is analyzed entirely on your device — using Apple's on-device Vision and Apple Intelligence frameworks — to generate a short summary of apparent interests, for tailoring future suggested replies to that match. The photo itself is never transmitted anywhere or stored, on your device or ours — only the short text summary is saved, and you can review, edit, or delete it at any time.
We do not run facial recognition or any identity-matching on photos, ever.
What we collect
- A device identifier. A random ID generated on first launch and stored in the app's local storage on your device. It isn't tied to your name, email, or Apple ID unless you upgrade to Pro (see below). It's how we apply the free-tier weekly scan limit.
- Extracted conversation text. Sent to our server to generate your momentum analysis, then discarded immediately after the response is returned. We do not store the verbatim text of your conversations.
- The analysis result. If you're a Datepace Pro subscriber and choose to save a match to your history, we store the structured result — momentum score, status, and recommended action — under a nickname or emoji you choose. We never store a match's real name or photo.
- An optional match trait summary. If you add a profile photo to a match, only the short text summary generated on-device (see above) is sent to our server for storage — never the photo. You can edit or remove it at any time from the match's detail screen.
- Subscription status. Apple notifies us when you subscribe, renew, or cancel Datepace Pro. We store whether your subscription is active and when it expires. We never see your payment details — Apple handles all billing directly.
Third parties involved
- Anthropic (Claude API) processes the extracted conversation text server-side to generate your momentum analysis. The text is not retained by Anthropic beyond what's needed to serve that one request, and is not used to train models.
- Apple processes all subscription payments through StoreKit. We never receive your card details — only subscription status events.
What we never do
- Sell your data to anyone.
- Run ad tracking or third-party analytics SDKs.
- Store your conversation text after generating a result.
- Store a match's real name or photo, under any circumstance.
Your choices
Datepace requires no account for the free tier. Deleting the app removes your locally stored device ID; a fresh install starts fresh. If you're a Pro subscriber and want your match history or account data deleted, contact us using the address below and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects how your data is handled, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app.
